UNAFFILIATED   NON-PARTISAN   INDEPENDENT

Rosemary A. "Rory" Schneeberger
Unaffiliated Candidate for ALASKA STATE SENATE - DISTRICT C

Issue-driven - NOT party-driven!

"...the spirit of party"...is America's "...worst enemy."
(George Washington ~ Farewell Address ~ 1796)

LESS GOVERNMENT IS MORE!

alaska_sea_lionISSUE: Fed up with my own whining and complaining about state government and keeping a personal promise I had made.
SOLUTION: I decided to put my money (NOT YOURS!) where my mouth is, and run for the Senate lawmaking position as a non-partisan, independent and unaffiliated Senate C candidate, neither soliciting nor accepting ANY campaign donations - don't want to be "beholden" to anyone. My vote will not be bought or sold.

ISSUE: Fed up with negative campaigning.
SOLUTION:
when I reach "perfection" by removing the entire log from my own eye, then you may ask me what I think of the other candidate.

ISSUE: Fed up with more government intrusion.
SOLUTION:
LESS is more. To a free people, citizen self-government and self reliance should be the first disciplines. If more help is needed, utilize family, friends, faith community, tribe, and local agencies first. State and Federal government involvement should be the last resort.

ISSUE: Fed up with part-time law-making becoming a career.
SOLUTION: Personal term-limits, vowing to serve two-Senate terms - MAXIMUM - if the voters of District C will have me. In Alaska, lawmaking is designed to be a part-time job.

Q: Alaska, are we getting soft? If so,

A: DO THE HARD THINGS!

Personal Philosophy

  • SIMPLIFY!
  • VOLUNTEER! It does your heart good!
  • Choose LIFE, not death.
  • Be socially conscious. Instead of funding political campaigns, why not feed the poor, clothe the naked, house the homeless, adopt and care for orphans, etc.
  • If you're an "under dog," try harder!
  • By example, be a part of the solution, not the problem.
  • Fight clean and sober; gain victory over addictions.alaska eagle
  • Meet with your enemies and negotiate intelligent, reasonable solutions before calling on government "fixes."
  • Live within your means - debt-free.
  • Listen well. Open minds lead to open hearts which lead to open doors.
  • Keep your promises.
  • Share with your neighbors and help those who are truly unable to help themselves.
  • Educate yourself through reading, research, study, debate, apprenticeships, internships and travel.
  • Self-govern by adhering to traditional values, wisdom from honorable elders, the Decalogue and the Golden Rule.
  • Dads and Moms, please stop delegating your parental responsibility and accountability to others.

Brief Biography

Born to Bob and Bee Callanan near Chicago, Rory's love affair with Alaska began in the late 60s when she was invited to sing a wedding in Haines. After singing and announcing national television and radio commercials, Rory taught in public and private schools, kindergarten through university, and served as staff and/or education liaison for three state legislatures, including Alaska.

Throughout her lifetime, Rory has studied both national and international affairs, government and history, traveling, observing and volunteer-teaching in cross-cultural settings around the world. Formerly a private-school administrator in Alaska and Colorado, she volunteers her time and talents from the family's one-room cabin in Hoonah. She and her husband, Peter, took primary responsibility for their childrens' education for twenty-five years. Their four adult children are presently serving others and writing their own life-stories.
